I wake up and turn over in bed. Aiden is already awake. His smiling eyes search my face. He’s a stunning sight to see first thing in the morning.

“Morning.” His sexy smile throws me back into last night’s events.

“Morning. How long have you been awake?”

“Not long.”

“It’s becoming a habit, you, waking up and watching me sleep.”

“I can’t be held responsible for that. Besides, I’ve been thinking.”

“About?”

“Us. I want to take you away. Just for the weekend.” The need to please me practically buzzes from Aiden. I’ve never found it as charming as it is now.

“Isn’t a weekend trip something that couples do?”

“Yes. We are a couple. I would have said that before visiting Solace, but now there’s no backing out.”

I can’t fault his logic. “Okay, I will agree on the relationship.”

Aiden doesn’t realise just how much of a step this is for me. But it feels right. I’ve never felt the way I do about Aiden with anyone else. “But going away? You have Peter to think about, and I have my mum.” I sit up in bed and pull the covers around me. I can’t fight this with Aiden leaning over me.

“So, we’re bound to our parents for the rest of our lives?”

“No, but I…”

“Please don’t argue with me about this. I’d like to take my girlfriend away for a weekend. Nothing fancy, just some time together.”

“We’ve done nothing but spend time together these past months.”

“We’ve spent time together in your bedroom. I want to go out, walk down the street, go for food or coffee with you.”

I hadn’t pegged Aiden as a romantic at heart. Maybe I was wrong. “You know it’s usually the woman who’s demanding these things, right.”

“I won’t ever apologise for wanting to be with you.”

“What did you have in mind?”

“Just a quick trip to Edinburgh. It’s loaded with art, culture, food, whatever takes your fancy. I have a few things in mind, but they will be revealed when we’re there. Edinburgh has been on my list of places to visit for a while. Have you been?”

“Not for a long time. Edinburgh, it is.”

Aiden gives me the biggest smile, exposing his dimple. He leans into me and seeks my lips. I’m in no mood to push him away so happily let him play my lips with his. It’s not long before a quick kiss turns heated and my body responds to his.

“Stop… or we won’t be getting out of bed. I need to take a shower. You need to get the coffee on.” I disappear and close the door. With distance, I pick through my brain and find my rational head. Playing the happy couple would be new. Weekend trips away didn’t ever involve my current partner. Of course, Aiden is breaking all the rules.

I shower and shampoo my hair, coating the long strands in a conditioning mask that I’d rinse off after my coffee. If Aiden is going to be staying more often, I’d have to get him used to putting the machine on and bringing me my cup.
